Methodology

SignalMax Careers publishes statistics about the internship market. This page explains where the data comes from, how we keep it accurate, and the limits of what it claims. If a figure cannot be supported by the underlying data, we withhold it rather than estimate.

Where the data comes from

We track internship postings from public sources: employer applicant-tracking systems (Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workday), company career sites, curated community job lists, and public job-search aggregators. We add sources over time; we do not purchase private resume or applicant data.

How a posting is verified and kept fresh

Each posting carries the date it was first detected and the date it was last re-checked against its source. Postings are re-verified on a recurring schedule; a role that is no longer open at its source is marked closed and drops out of the active index. Our published counts describe the currently active, verified index.

How duplicates are handled

The same internship can appear on several sources. We resolve duplicates by source identity and by a canonical application URL, so one role is counted once even when it is listed in multiple places. Genuinely distinct roles at the same employer are kept separate.

Where AI assists, and where it does not

We use language models to read a posting and extract structured fields (role family, location, term, stated eligibility). Aggregate statistics are computed deterministically from those stored fields, not generated by a model. A model never invents a value: a field that a posting does not state is left blank, and a statistic is only reported over the postings that actually state it.

What the data does and does not claim

Our figures describe the internships SignalMax Careers is actively tracking, which is a large and growing sample of the market, not the entire market. Some attributes (for example, work arrangement, compensation, and application deadlines) are stated on only a minority of postings today; where coverage is too thin to be meaningful, we say so on the page and do not report a distribution.

Corrections

If you believe a figure or a posting is wrong, email careers@signalmax.ai. We review corrections and update the affected data.

Not the employer

SignalMax Careers is not the hiring employer for third-party internships and is not affiliated with the employers listed unless explicitly stated. Application links point to the employer's own posting.
